Patrick Dorgu Confident There’s Much More to Come After Solid Start at Manchester United

Patrick Dorgu shares the belief of manager Ruben Amorim that the challenges of last season will serve as a valuable foundation for the future — both for the team and for himself personally.

Amorim has expressed optimism that the difficult transitional period the club endured last season will ultimately prove beneficial, helping players better understand the demands of Premier League football and what’s required to succeed at the highest level.

Dorgu fully agrees — and sees this new chapter as his opportunity to truly shine.

“The Best Is Still to Come” – Dorgu Ready for Breakout Season

The Denmark international, who joined Manchester United in a £25 million move from Lecce in February, quickly earned a spot in the starting XI, making 20 appearances and becoming the club’s first-choice left wing-back by the end of the campaign.

Despite showing flashes of brilliance, Dorgu believes he has yet to reach his peak.

“Yes, 100%, I feel I have more to bring to the team and more to give,” he told reporters. “Hopefully we’ll see the best of me — and the team — from the very first game.”

    Competition Breeds Confidence

Dorgu’s arrival came at a critical time for United, with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia sidelined due to injury. As a result, Diogo Dalot, a natural right-back, was often deployed on the left side of the pitch.

With Malacia now out of Amorim’s plans, Shaw expected to feature as part of a back three, and young Harry Amass heading out on loan, the main competition for Dorgu is set to come from 18-year-old new signing Diego Leon.

Leon turned heads with an impressive performance in Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Leeds in Stockholm, and Dorgu welcomes the battle for minutes.

“For sure. Diego is a top, top player,” Dorgu said. “It’s good for the team when you have two or three players pushing each other in every position. That kind of competition can only make us stronger.”

As United prepare for the new campaign, all eyes will be on Dorgu to build on a promising start and show just how high his ceiling truly is.
